Ooidonk Fine Arts

Ooidonk Fine Arts was established in 1995 in Bachte-Maria-Leerne, a tiny village halfway between Deinze and Sint-Martens-Latem. The gallery is situated in the picturesque and shady alley leading to Ooidonk Castle. The gallery is specialized in nineteenth and early twentieth century painting, drawing and sculpture and focuses on Belgian artists and the school of Sint-Martens-Latem, which is logical, considering that many artists lived and worked in this beautiful and peaceful village. Emile Claus, Xavier De Cock, Léon and Gustave De Smet, Frits Van den Berghe and Jenny Montigny, to name but a few, found inspiration for their masterpieces here in the picturesque region. Since 1996, the gallery has become a household name at various art fairs in Ghent, Antwerp and Courtrai and it has been a regular participant at pAn Amsterdam.

Jonathan Knight

beer-detailIt has been 10 years now since I first met Jonathan Knight at Cheltenham Racecourse. His sculpture, mainly horses at that period, made an important impact on me and few months later we opened our first one-man exhibition in Belgium, with success. There was not only an empathy between me and his sculptures. Soon I discovered the person behind the artist and our business relation turned into a close friendship.
